Numerical Aptitude Test
Numerical Aptitude measures practical numeracy: working with proportion, rates, percentages, series and areas in everyday situations -- prices and discounts, distances and speeds, quantities and areas. It is aimed at entry-level and high-volume roles where the numerical demands are real but routine, and it is the shortest numerical test in the range.
Try a sample question
These are the practice questions a candidate sees before the Numerical Aptitude Test starts. Have a go — the answer and an explanation appear after each one. Nothing is recorded.
What it measures
How it is administered
25 questions in 12 minutes, one to a page, in a fixed order that runs from easier to harder. Candidates may leave a question unanswered and return to it while time remains -- an item list beside the question shows what has been answered and what is still outstanding, and takes them straight back to anything they left. Unanswered questions score zero, so there is no penalty for moving on.
Fairness and security
There are four parallel versions of the test, built from the same 25 question templates with different numbers. Each candidate is given one, and a candidate who sits the test again is given a version they have not seen. The order of the answer options is shuffled for every candidate, so knowing the answer letters from a previous sitting is worth nothing.
Scoring
Scores are reported against a norm group of 9,010 job applicants (mean 12.98, standard deviation 5.26) -- first attempts by everyone who started the test, including those the clock stopped, rather than only those who finished. Norming on finishers alone would flatter every candidate the time limit caught.
Sample reports
Real reports generated for a sample candidate through the same pipeline a live sitting goes through.
