IT Graduate Comprehension Test

The IT Graduate Comprehension Test evaluates a candidate's ability to check requests against policy, match records and spot discrepancies, and draw sound conclusions from logs and reports, using only the information provided.

Candidates complete 45 items in 25 minutes across three components: checking access requests against a printed IT access policy and counting the errors; matching software asset-register entries to an approved software request and counting the discrepancies; and reading an incident log, a change record or an uptime report with a one-line brief and judging statements as True, False or Cannot Tell. No technical knowledge is required -- every rule needed is printed on screen. It is designed for graduate applicants and trainees in IT and technical support roles.

Part 1: Checking access requests against policy

Count how many errors the request contains. An error is any breach of the policy or any incorrect calculation.

IT access policy (extract)

  • Access is granted for a fixed period. The end date may be no more than 90 days after the start date unless the request shows the word ‘Permanent’.
  • Requests must be submitted at least 5 days before the start date.
