Train Driver SJT

This Situational Judgement Test assesses collaborating with colleagues and customers, performing safely, and performing effectively in scenarios relevant to train driving roles.

Candidates work through 12 scenarios, selecting the most and least appropriate response from four options for each. The test is untimed and typically takes around 10 minutes, and has been designed with reference to some of the UK's biggest train operating companies for train driver and trainee train driver roles.

While driving the train, you accidentally exceed the speed limit. You quickly bring the train back to an appropriate speed. You know no one is currently aware of this mistake and it is unlikely anyone will find out unless your train is reviewed during one of the random performance evaluations. How would you respond in this situation?

Report the incident to the Signaller to improve safety learning and prevent another person making the same mistake
To avoid trouble run the train slower than normal for a few minutes so that your average speed balances out
Talk to your colleagues afterwards and find out if they have had the same problem with speed
