This Situational Judgement Test assesses working together, seeking solutions, taking the initiative and professional credibility in scenarios common to administrative roles within law firms.

Candidates work through 16 scenarios, selecting the most and least appropriate response from four options for each. The test is untimed and typically takes about 10 minutes, and is designed for legal administrators, legal secretaries and legal PAs.

These are the practice questions a candidate sees before the Legal Administrator SJT starts. Have a go — the answer and an explanation appear after each one. Nothing is recorded.

You receive an email from a new client who has several questions about the breakdown of charges in their invoice. While they do not have the terms and conditions of their contract to hand, they say they are convinced they have been charged for a service they did not agree to. How would you respond?

Select the response you believe is MOST appropriate and the response you believe is LEAST appropriate.

At a suitable time for you both, set up a meeting with the client to review the invoice and costs associated with their contract together
Phone the client, apologising for the confusion, saying you will investigate the matter and reassure them that any mistake will be refunded
Promptly send the client a full breakdown of their services and associated costs, and politely ask them to clarify where the mistake has been made
Quickly email them back, requesting a convenient time to review the invoice in more detail and attach a copy of their contract for reference
